Oven Baked Popcorn Shrimp

  • 12 oz extra small shrimp cooked, thawed
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • cup panko crumbs
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil
  • Nonstick spray


  • Place thawed shrimp on paper towel to remove any excess water.
  • Preheat oven to 375℉.
  • You will need 3 bowls or shallow plates. In the first bowl, add flour. In the second bowl, add egg and water and beat together. In third bowl, combine panko crumbs, garlic powder, onion powder and basil.
  • Time to add the breading. Place a few shrimp in flour mixture and coat by gently tossing in the flour. Next, take the flour covered shrimp and dip into the egg mixture to evenly coat. Finally, take the egg and flour covered shrimp and roll in the panko crumbs to create a nice bread coating. Repeat this step until all shrimp are coated.
  • Place shrimp on a lined and greased baking sheet. Bake at 375℉ for 20-25 minutes. Serve immediately.


Freezing shrimp: Place coated shrimp in airtight container with parchment paper between each layer. Do not bake until you are ready to eat. When you are ready to serve the shrimp, place frozen shrimp on lined cookie sheet and bake at 375℉ for 25-30 minutes or 20-25 minutes if thawed.
