This delicious smoothie is our all-time favorite.  We have it after meals as a fruit/dessert, at snack time, on the go… just about any time.  It gives the kids (and us) great nutrition while they feel like they’re getting a treat.  Win-win for parents and kids!  The homemade yogurt provides a healthy source of probiotics, the ground flaxseed (or liquid Omegas) adds the healthy fat, and the green powder mix and fruits load it with the vitamins and minerals that everyone’s body needs.  Great for the whole family!

The best part is that you can really make this smoothie any way you want.  Choose your favorite fruits, add extra vegetables, or substitute any ingredient you wish.  You can even hide those vegetables that the kids won’t eat or a medication they don’t want to take.  This smoothie makes everyone happy!

AGE APPROPROPIATE COOKING TASKS

Every child’s ability varies depending on maturity or cognitive and physical ability.  Parents need to use their own discretion when assigning tasks.  These are general guidelines for the Family Favorite Fruit Smoothie.

Younger than 3 years old

  • Name and count ingredients with child
  • Add ingredients to container
  • Push the button on the blender, Nutri Ninja, or Vitamix

3 – 5 years old

  • All of the younger tasks
  • Measure and count ingredients

6 – 7 years old

  • All of the younger tasks

8 – 9 years old

  • All of the younger tasks

10 – 12 years old

  • All of the younger tasks
